Resume. The department was founded in November 1995.

Mission of the Philosophy and Psychology Department is in training of highly qualified philosophers, psychologists, sociologists, and specialists in political science and religion theory promoting socio-economic and cultural region development.

The graduates can work as referents, experts, coworkers of specialized structures of Home Affairs Bodies and National safety, city and regional maslihats, marketing, and imaging companies, scientific laboratories, commercial organizations, teachers in organizations of secondary and special education and etc. The graduates are working in the President administration; Culture, information and sport ministry; regional, municipal akhimats; region and republic schools, institutions of higher education (Gumilev ENU, Al-Farabi KazNU, Kazakhstan Russian University etc.); at the advertising companies; National Security Department; Educational Department and bank systems (JS «Narodny Bank»); Mittal Steel and nondepartment organizations etc.

Research work. The chairs carry out research work according to their fields of investigation: Philosophy Chair: «Human, social, spiritual aspects»; Chair of History of Philosophy and Theory of Culture: «The stages and peculiarities of the historical and philosophical process in Kazakhstan»; Politology and Sociology Chair: «The formation of the new civil society in Kazakstan»; Psychology Chair: Coherent effects of the society and human developing: the psychological aspect».

The department has three chairs: Philosophy and theory culture chair; Politology and Sociology chair; Psychology chair. Specialization of the chairs: productive administrative specialization — a consultant, an expert, an employee of public administration structures, home affairs structures, national safety structures; research specialization — a research assistant in laboratories, departments, leading institutions of liberal education, sociology, politics, culture; educational (pedagogical) — a teacher of the Humanities and social sciences in secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, colleges, teachers of culturology, theology teachers, sociologists, psychologists.
